Sometimes it helps to have someone else lead you on a journey inside yourself. If that feels true for you, you may like to download these free meditations to help you get to know the parts of yourself that need attention.
The Finding Your Mom Parts Meditation is a direct excerpt from my book, When Good Moms Feel Bad, and is meant to be a companion for that (although you can certainly use this meditation alone even if you’re not already familiar with parts work.) This visualization is the first step in the Mom Parts Method, which helps you find and identify your Mom Parts, Understand your Mom Parts’ Truths and their Inescapable Vulnerabilities, and how to send them more Remedies (the 8 C’s of IFS). If you would like to dive deeper into your getting to know your Mom Parts, purchase the book here, join us for a Mom Parts Salon, or contact me to inquire about individual therapy.
The Noticing meditation is meant to help you slow yourself down when you are feeling wound up, afraid, depressed, or any other feeling that is making you uncomfortable. The intention here is for you to learn to notice what is in your body, heart, and mind, so you can begin to befriend the parts of you that are hurting.
The Inner Critic meditation is meant to help you focus on the parts of you that criticize you, berate you, and shame you for “not doing it right.” These are parts that make you feel overwhelmed and like a failure - or like a “bad” mom. Use this meditation when you are feeling this way to start befriending these parts (as strange as that may sound). This will help you have more compassion for yourself and help you remember that you are good enough, just the way you are.
